French Viola, C. Pirot Label

This vintage French viola bears an interior C. Pirot label reading ‘C. PIROT Fecit, Parisiis Anno 18…’. The instrument has a richly aged amber-brown varnish and a finely grained spruce table showing the natural character and patina of an older instrument. The back displays attractive maple figure with considerable variation in color and texture, while the ribs and neck complement the warm appearance of the instrument. The precise final digit of the date on the interior label is not clearly legible in the available photographs.
